Mio Technology Showcases Innovative Line of Portable Navigation Devices and
Next-Generation GPS Technologies at CES 2008
- Company showcases new partnerships, new look, new technologies -
LAS VEGAS, Jan. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Attendees looking for the most
innovative GPS devices at CES 2008 will plot a course to the Mio Technology
booth (LVCC South Hall 4, Booth 35344). The company, a leading worldwide
supplier of personal GPS products, is highlighting its full product
portfolio
and will give visitors an early glimpse at breakthrough GPS technologies.
The
Mio booth will be the point of interest at the world's largest consumer
technology tradeshow.
Under the theme "Explore More," Mio Technology is presenting an array of
new devices including its latest car and PDA navigation systems, concept
products and GPS PDA phones for the worldwide market, along with new
technology spun from the company's partnerships with Tele Atlas and SiRF
Technology. Mio Technology will also demonstrate its new family of "Move"
devices, as well as its new MioMore Online connected service. Additionally,
Mio Technology has finalized its merger with Navman, bringing that company's
navigation software and content expertise under the same roof as Mio
Technology's innovative hardware. Attendees familiar with Mio Technology's
brand may notice another change at the show -- the company will be
presenting
its refreshed corporate identity for the first time, designed to reflect the
company's expanding product and service portfolio.
"CES gives us an opportunity to showcase our full range of unique GPS
devices available in stores now, but also gives visitors a look into the
future of the market and what they may see on shelves in the coming months,"
said Samuel Wang, president, Mio Technology Corporation. "We've shown
consumers and the competition that we are here to stay and now we're taking
our brand to the next level by showcasing new products, new partnerships and
a
new look for the company."
New Concept Products For the Car or Pocket
Mio Technology is showcasing two new concept products -- a connected
portable navigation system and a dual-sided navigation phone. The company's
connected portable navigation system concept is a slim and sleek device that
features a flat-panel design, which is easy to use with a touch of a finger.
Equipped with an SIM card slot, the connected portable navigation system can
make phone calls directly -- without Bluetooth(R) pairing -- and can also
conduct local searches for the latest point-of-interest information and
other
real-time data like gas prices and movie times.
Also on display is Mio Technology's dual-sided navigation phone concept.
It offers two devices in one package, an elegant feature phone and a
fully-functioning personal navigation system that builds on the company's
hallmark navigation expertise and technology. While the products are not yet
available in the North American market, they provide a look into the future
of
personal navigation and wireless communication.
New MioMore Online Connected Service
In addition to the products, the company is also showcasing a technology
demonstration of its new MioMore Online connected service. MioMore Online is
a
value-added service that gives users access to real-time information via
GPRS.
With MioMore Online, users can conduct local searches on their device via
the
Internet. Additionally, it can receive dynamic data, such as traffic and
weather information. Mio Technology will be working closely with local
content
providers to offer the most relevant and useful information to consumers.
New Technologies: SiRF InstantFix II(TM) and Tele Atlas(TM) 3D Maps
Mio Technology is also providing a glimpse at two new innovations in
conjunction with booth partners Tele Atlas and SiRF Technology.
SiRFInstantFix
II(TM) positioning technology enables users to enjoy a faster
time-to-first-GPS-fix. The company is now delivering devices that feature
this
technology to customers in Asia and Europe with plans to offer it in a
number
of North American products in 2008. The newest 3-D European map content from
Tele Atlas sports life-like 3-D representations of major landmarks so users
can navigate European cities with an unparalleled sense of realism. Mio
Technology continues to gauge consumer interest in 3-D map content,
including
landmarks and city maps, in all regions and will respond accordingly.
