Chunghwa Telecom January-October net EPS at nearly 86% of 2007 target

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) on November 9 reported an estimated net profit of NT$41.9 billion (US$1.3 billion) for January-October 2007, translating into a net earnings per share (EPS) of NT$3.94, accounting for 85.7% of the goal of NT$4.60 for this year.
CHT had a total of about 4.22 million subscribers of ADSL and FTTx (fiber to the home/building) at the end of October. Of the ADSL subscribers, 1.12 million used bandwidth of over 8Mbps. In addition, CHT had 2.11 million subscribers of 3G mobile communication services at the end of October.
Taiwan Mobile (TWM) and Far EasTone Telecommunications (FET), the other two of the top three operators of mobile communication services in Taiwan, on November 9 released estimated financial figures for October as well.
FET is among 14 Taiwan-listed companies newly selected by MSCI Barra, a global leading compiler of stock indices, for addition to an index based on a pool of Taiwan stocks, according to FET. This will help expose FET in the international capital market, the company pointed out.
